The Daily Brief

Ashby Monk

  • New evidence is out that ESG actually bumps returns. So the old argument for ESG (i.e., it doesn’t hurt returns so be cool and just do it) can be replaced with a new argument: How does a bump of 1.6% per year sound?
  • Temasek Holdings is acquiring a $2.4 billion Hong Kong shopping complex through its Mapletree sub.
  • Get to know “the other American SWF”: New Mexico State Investment Council (…actually, there are many others but get to know it anyway…).
  • New Jersey pension system was up 18.5% for the year, which is its best performance in 12 years.
  • Norway’s NBIM continues to invest in London real estate.
  • Kuwait Investment Authority will own 20% of a newly privatized Kuwait Airways.
  • Singapore’s Temasek may offer yuan-based debt for foreign buyers.
  • Russia’s reserve funds shrink due to currency losses.
  • The White House and Congress manage to avoid a crisis the that they created. Kudos.
